新しい場所 - Our New Place

Our new place is great. It's perfect for two young adults and the students we do and hope to entertain. And it's a million times better than our previous roach-infested, crazy infested, old, dirty apartment we were just living in. In all honesty, we were possibly gambling with a higher likelihood of going up in flames or going down in an earthquake. But now we're making up for that.

Video Tour:

Our neighborhood is nice and quiet with a beautiful backdrop. And our two neighbors are amazing! They are in their 60s and 70s and they make sure we are taken care of. The one across from us even speaks English very well. He worked at Caterpillar and went to the US for almost a year. On some Thursdays we take a walk together and talk about US/Japanese politics and events.

Toxic chemicals don't suit our fancy, so we opted to keep the fortress of spiders that protect almost every window from potential invaders. We have actually witnessed two rather large roach carcasses entangled in our webs. We have a few house spiders too. But they don't like our food and they pretty much always pick a corner and stay in it. Unfortunately, Alexis is quite afraid of spiders. However, she's more afraid of roaches. Lately she's been working on her fear. Every once in a while we'll find some sort of little insect to toss on a web. We usually get quite an interesting show and somehow makes them more endearing to her. I just see it as tribute.

We get plenty of little visitors to our home. Though the latest has been digging holes throughout our yard.

Random vegetables and flowers tend to grow in our yard from time to time. Even more so, random plants grow out of our compost pile. It's not in the least suprising but it's always fun to guess which plants were able to take hold. Pumpkin vines, avocado trees, and potato plants seem to be the most common.

Not too long after moving in, heavy rains broke an erosion wall. We're glad we're only renting.

EDIT: It took about three or four months, but they've finally fixed it. And my what a stand-up job they did.
